Zero waste
What is it?
OCA Global created in 2020 its own Zero Waste referential to help companies minimize waste generation in their processes, promote the circular economy and efficient resource management.
Zero Waste certification enables the following environmental issues to be addressed:
- Avoiding the generation of waste that can be disposed of in landfills or incinerators in favor of other destinations: reuse, recycling or composting.
- The transformation via eco-design of waste that cannot be assimilated by the environment and of waste for which there is no sustainable technology that can be integrated or transformed into a new product.
- Encourage more efficient uses of resources, bringing substantial net savings to companies, while reducing total annual greenhouse gas emissions.
- Facilitate the transition to a more sustainable management of materials and a circular economy model.
Under the Zero Waste scheme, the company will be eligible for two types of certification:
- Committed to Zero Waste: If the company is able to demonstrate that it recycles at least 60% of the waste generated.
- Zero Waste: If the company is able to demonstrate that it recycles at least 90% of the waste generated.
